That’s what Donald Calloway would have said to you in the earlier years of his life, a former drug addict. I received his story in my email from the Catholic Company. It was sent to introduce a new book by Father Calloway. What struck me also about Father Calloway’s story is that he was a military dependent. Being a military dependent as a child, then in the military myself as a reservist and raising a family in a military environment, I could feel for him as a child in that environment. But unlike Father Calloway, I had a foundation in Christian principles and so did my children, which makes all the difference in the world when dealing with situations and changes that come with military life. Not that Father Calloway’s dilemma was totally to blame on his being a military dependent, he already had emotional issues from his history of broken family relationships. I did not write this story of Father Calloway and do not take credit for the composition. I am sharing it with you below. If you would like to know more about Father Calloway, do a search on Google or YouTube and you will find him.
“When I was a teenager, if someone had told me
I would one day be a Roman Catholic priest…
I would have said, ‘You’re crazy…! I’m going
to smoke a joint. Now get out of my face.’”
His name is Donald Calloway.
Growing up, he never knew God.
He had heard the name of Jesus,
but thought He was a myth,
like the Easter Bunny
or Santa Claus.
He had never heard of the
Blessed Mother, because myths
don’t have mothers, right?
A life of drugs, crime,
and promiscuity began
at the age of 12.
He ran away from home
when he was just 15.
After living in Japan and
working with the Japanese
mafia, he was chained to
the fuselage of a plane
and deported.
Imprisoned numerous times.
Put through 2 drug rehabs.
Yet he continued his lifestyle
without remorse or regret.
He was consumed by hatred
and concerned with two things:
looking out for himself, and
living the life he wanted.
Until God, through Our Lady,
came to rescue him.
He had not even wanted divine help.
But on a fatal night, one small
decision would change his life forever.
Without even realizing it
he was rescued by grace.
After his radical conversion
he would become a priest.
Just what is Our God willing
to do in the life of a sinner?
Is anyone truly a lost cause?
Here is proof that Jesus Christ
can reach any soul, and save anyone,
no matter how far they may be from Him.
“Miracles can happen,”
says Father Calloway.
“Divine Mercy is for real!“
Do you think someone can change his life on his own?
Can God reach anyone with His mercy and love?
Has someone in your life gone through a profound change in his lifestyle?
